At the centre of the album is Mirusia's own experience of love and loss.
Having experienced significant loss throughout her life, including the heartbreaking loss of a baby during her second trimester, Mirusia has come to understand music not simply as something she performs, but as something that can carry us through moments when words are no longer enough.
"I have always believed that music can reach the places words cannot. It can sit beside us in our sadness without asking us to explain it. It can give us permission to pause, to remember, to cry, to smile and, perhaps for a little while, to feel that those we miss are not so far away."
One of the album's most personal moments is Per Sempre Nel Cuore (Always in My Heart), an original song Mirusia wrote for the baby she never had the opportunity to meet. What began as a poem was transformed into a song, with Italian soprano and friend Morgan Rosati helping Mirusia translate the words into Italian.
For Mirusia, singing those deeply personal words in another language created a small but meaningful distance from the pain behind them, while preserving everything she wanted to say.
The album also features original music including Raise a Glass, The Morning Bird and Hope, alongside Mirusia's interpretation of Within My Heart (Highland Cathedral). Together, the twelve songs tell stories of love, memory and the people who remain with us throughout our lives.
The title Always in My Heart extends far beyond bereavement. It is for anyone who carries someone in their heart: those still beside us, those separated from us by distance, those we never had the chance to meet and those whose absence can suddenly be felt in a familiar place, a treasured memory or a piece of music.
Mirusia's own experiences have also strengthened her desire to reach out to others navigating unimaginable loss. Whether through music or simply being present for a friend, family member or stranger who is hurting, she believes compassion matters, even when there are no words capable of fixing what has happened.
Ultimately, Always in My Heart is not an album about death. It is an album about enduring love.
Grief may change with time, but love does not disappear. It remains in our memories, in the stories we tell, in what someone taught us and in the person we have become because they were part of our lives.
Through Always in My Heart, Mirusia offers listeners a place to remember, reflect and find comfort, while celebrating the people who remain part of us long after circumstances, distance or time have separated us.
