Description
Originally from Brighton, England, Linda George migrated to Australia in 1964 and settled in Adelaide. Her first professional singing engagement was with the group Nova Express when she was 18 years old. She continued as a member of the group for two-and-a-half years, developing her style and technique. Nova Express won the Victorian final of The Battle Of The Sounds and went on to become one of the most popular bands on the hotel and club circuit.
On leaving Nova Express, Linda became the featured vocalist with the Marlboro Big Band and later the Barry Veith Big Band. Following this she entertained the troops in Vietnam with the ABC Showband and upon returning to Australia did a series of radio shows for the ABC.
Linda then started session work at various recording studios and became one of the most sought-after female session singers in Australia. This work, together with her regular appearances on TV and stage, gave her the chance to develop her voice and style, allowing her to perform across multiple genres of music.
In 1973 Linda signed with Image Records and her single Neither One Of Us (Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye) became a Top 5 record around Australia.
Linda recorded two albums on the Image label and several non-album singles.
This release brings together the best of both albums and Linda’s hit singles, ‘A’ and ‘B’-sides, and marks the first time ever on CD for this popular artist.
